Funeral services for Katherine Gunnells Bowman of Simmesport will be held on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 beginning at 10am at the Christ the King Catholic Church in Simmesport. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 beginning at 5pm until 10pm at the Escude’ Funeral Home in Simmesport and will resume Wednesday morning at 8am. Burial will be held at Gunnells Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Escude Funeral Home.
Katherine Gunnells Bowman, age 82, passed away on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at the Bayou Chateau Nursing Home in Simmesport. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Elliot Bowman; daughters, Wanda Davis and Debra Nobe; grandchildren, Dale Paul Duplantis and Tiffany Lynn Moreau; parents, W.T. “Billy” Gunnells, Jr. and Mabel Dupuy Gunnells; brothers, Huey Gunnells, Charles Gunnells, & William T. Gunnells, III.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Etta Jernigan of Simmesport, Paula Falgout of Maurepas, & Cordette Moreau of Lettsworth; son, Billy Joe Dupont; brothers, Kenneth Gunnells, Harold Gunnells, and Raymond Gunnells; sister, Pettie G. Armand. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
I am truly sorry for the loss of such a great person. She was and is a beautiful soul. My deepest sympathy to all of her loving family.

Charles and U were so sorry to hear about Mrs. Katherine's passing. I took my Mom Elvina Johnson last month to visit her at the home. She looked so good that day and talked to me about Billy. I told her he was visiting his sisters in Simmesport and I told Angela to bring him to see her. I later heard that they had a great visit! RIP Mrs. Katherine, you were such a precious lady!!
