Alton Irvin, Sr.

Funeral services for Alton Irvin, Sr. of Mansura will take place at the Escude Funeral Home of Mansura on Saturday, August 24th, 2024 beginning at 1:00pm. Burial will take place at the St. Paul Catholic Cemetery.

Alton Irvin, Sr., age 84, passed away at Avoyelles Hospital in Marksville, LA. Aton Irvin, Sr was born on June 23, 1940, in New Orleans, LA to Geneva Adams and Russell Irvin, Sr. He attended Booker T. Washington High School and soon after enlisted in the United States Army. Upon returning home from the service he used his acquired skills to obtain employment in the transportation industry. Throughout the years he had various jobs in that sector, before working and retiring from the Regional Transit Authority (R.T.A) with over twenty-seven years of service. In addition to being an industrious worker, he was extremely knowledgeable and willing to help anyone in need. His residence in New Orleans spanned more than sixty years, eventually relocating to Mansura, LA in 2005. Dedicated to his wife and children, he was a loving father of three children, four grandchildren, and loyal friend. In the wake of his passing, his family and friends will feel a great deal of love and loss. 

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Doris Walker Irvin; children, Cindy Irvin, Nicole Irvin, and Alton Irvin, Jr. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Krystian, Paris, and Caitlyn. 

He was preceded in death by his grandson, Blaine Irvin; parents, Russell & Geneva Adams Irvin; siblings, Russell Irvin, Jr., Benjamin Irvin, Henry Irvin, Juliette Irvin, and Antonio Irvin.

Visitation will begin on Saturday, August 24th, 2024 at 12:00pm at the Escude Funeral Home of Mansura until time of service.
