Funeral services for Alton Rachal of Lafayette, former resident of Hessmer, will take place at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church of Hessmer on Monday, August 8, 2016 with Fr. Edwin Rodriguez-Hernandez officiating. Visitation will be held at the Escude Funeral Home of Mansura on Sunday, August 7, 2016 from 5:00pm to 10:00pm with a rosary at 5:30pm. Visitation will resume Monday morning at 8:00am and burial services will commence at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Cemetery.
Alton Rachal, age 78, passed away at the Vermilion Healthcare Center of Kaplan on Tuesday, August 2, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eustice & Mathilda Villemarette Rachal; 1st wife, Patricia Normand; half-sister, Gloria Drouin; half-brother, George Roy, Jr.; step-brother, Roland Rachal; and step-son Minos Cashat, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Emily F. Rachal; children, Kerry P. Rachal, Patrick J. Rachal, & Carolyn R. Cormier; step-children, Sammy Kershaw, Gerald "Jay" Cashat, & Annette Cashat. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren, & step-great-grandchildren.
Service and arrangements are under the direction of Escude Funeral Home.
