Funeral services for Angelo Purpera of Simmesport will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2009 at the Christ the King Catholic Church of Simmesport, beginning at 2:00pm. Visitations will also be held at the church prior to the funeral, beginning at 12:00pm until time of the service. Angelo Purpera, age 87, passed away at his home on Thursday, November 12, 2009. He was a World War II veteran in the US Army; and a long time resident and business man of Simmesport. He is preceded in death by his; wife, Nelda Firmin Purpera, of 58 years; parents, Frank Purpera, Sr. Sarah Russo Purpera; brothers, Vincent Purpera, C.D. Purpera, Frank Purpera, Jr. He is survived by his; son, Michael Purpera and wife Allyson of Lafayette; daughters, Marilyn Shiu and husband Michael of Houston, Joyce Regan and husband John of Rockwell, TX; grand-daughters, Tyra Regan, Erin Regan, Margot Shiu; great-grandson, Tyler Regan. He is also survived by his; brothers, John Purpera of Oklahoma City, Joseph Purpera of Baton Rouge; sister, Rosina Dupont of Simmesport; step-brother, Charles Mondello of Laplace; step-sisters, Marie Cutrer of Baker, Jo Ann Mayeaux of Marksville. Services and funeral arrangements are under the direction of Escude Funeral Home.
