Funeral Services for Mrs. Annie Alice Donaghey Martin will be held at Bayou Des Glaises Baptist Church on Friday, August 3, 2018 beginning at 11am with Rev. Clayton Strohschein and Rev. Eugene Carlock officiating. Visitation will also take place at Bayou Des Glaises Baptist Church on Thursday, August 2, 2018 beginning at 5pm until 10pm and will resume Friday morning at 8am until the time of service. Burial will commence at Bayou Des Glaises Baptist Church Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Escude Funeral Home.

Mrs. Annie D. Martin, age 93, passed away on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at her home in Alexandria, LA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Martin; three sons, Ben Martin, Ken Martin, and Larry Martin; parents, Robert H. Donaghey & Gladys Petty; siblings, Lois Reed, Jewel Sanchez, Robert Donaghey, Edward Donaghey, George Donaghey, Edgar Donaghey, Bessie Barbin, and Dottie Donaghey.

She is survived by her three children; Beverly Desselle (Bruce) of Slidell, LA, Ricky Martin (Debra) of Big Bend, LA and Betty Strohschein (Clay) of Alexandria, LA; sister, Florence D. Hadley of Gilmer, TX; thirteen grandchildren: Bobby J. Desselle, Jean Luc Desselle, Scarlett Desselle, Ricky E. Martin, Kallie Martin, Kaydee Martin, Kade Martin, Larry Martin Jr., Trampas Martin, Marlana Martin Spinner, Dannie R. Martin, Nyla Strohschein Dickerson, and Clayton Woody Strohschein; she is also survived by a host of great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Annie was a stay at home mom and always a positive and upbeat person. Her philosophy was if there is no joy or fun in life, then make some joy. Her and her siblings loved singing all of the old songs of the church. It was always a joy to be around her brothers and sisters as they interacted. She rode bikes and walked with her children and grandchildren. She was a hands-on person to all of us. She was proud of each and every accomplishment we made in our lives and encouraged us to do well in everything we did. Mrs. Annie will be missed by all who knew her.
