Funeral services for Barbara Lemoine Saucier, a native of Plaucheville, will take place at the Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church of Plaucheville on Saturday, February 7, 2015 beginning at 12:00pm with Fr. Martin Laird officiating. Visitation will be held at the Escude Funeral Home of Cottonport on Friday, February 6, 2015 from 5:00pm to 10:00pm and will resume Saturday morning at 9:00am until time of service. Burial services will commence at the Mater Dolorosa Catholic Cemetery.
Barbara Saucier, age 84, passed away at the Riviere De Soleil Nursing Home of Mansura on Thursday, February 5, 2015. Mrs. Saucier was born in Plaucheville on September 15, 1930. Her life's journey brought her through Franklin, LA, back to Cottonport, LA, all the way out to Beaumont, TX, back home to Plaucheville, LA, and then finally to Mansura, LA. Throughout her life she raised 11 wonderful children, was a homemaker, a member of The Golden Triangle Quilt Guild, and worked as a CCD teacher and a substitute teacher. She was also a member of the Mater Dolorosa Ladies Altar Society and a member of the Blue Army. In addition to her strong faith, she enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking for her family, and spending quality time with them.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Saucier; and her parents, Gibbon Paul, Sr. & Grace Plauche Lemoine. She is survived by her children, Mary Grace (Errol) Lemoine of Baton Rouge, Charlotte Saucier of Plaucheville, Lucille (fiancé Dave) Saucier of Upland, CA, Christopher (Bonnie) Saucier of DeQuincy, Joan (Clay) Ducote of Cottonport, Annette (Michael) Burnham of Dayton, TX, James (fiancé Pam) Saucier of Beaumont, TX, Baxter (Jeanne) Saucier of Lafayette, Pauline (Jeff) Ogden of Kountze, TX, Paulette (Steve) Shaver of Lumberton, TX, & Billie Kay (Randall) Murphy of Alexandria; her sisters & brothers, Rachel Saucier of Franklin, Darrell Lemoine of Plaucheville, Dorthea Gaillard of Plaucheville, Vera Garifola of Hammond, Gibbon Paul Lemoine, Jr. of Plaucheville, & Willie John Lemoine of Plaucheville. She is also survived by her twenty-eight grandchildren & fifteen great-grandchildren.
