Funeral services for Bertha Vel Gauthier Coco of Moreauville will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2013 beginning at 11am at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Moreauville with Msgr. John Timmermans officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2013 beginning at 9am until 11am at the Escud Funeral Home in Moreauville. Interment will be at the Sacred Heart Mausoleum.

Bertha Vel Gauthier Coco, age 89, was born on November 19, 1923 and passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2013, just 13 days before her 90th birthday, at the Southwest Louisiana War Veterans Home in Jennings, LA. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, Lambert Baldwin Coco, Sr., by five hours. She was also preceded in death by her parents Samuel T. Denise Moreau Gauthier two sisters, Lois T. Gauthier and Constance Tiny Geuin and her brother Everette P. Gauthier.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son Dr. Lambert Bert B. Coco, Jr. wife Dr. Sally Coco and their children Lindsay Coco Justin Jeffery and Stephanie Coco her daughter Suellen Kincaid Vanzant husband Tom Vanzant and their children Anne Elizabeth Yancey, Denise Yancey Gruidl Steve Gruidl and their children Jackson Baldwin, Catherine Elizabeth, and Claire Denise, and Tom Vanzant, III. She is also survived by a sisterinlaw Margaret Burton Gauthier special cousins, Zeline D. Coco and Gladys M. Maddie and many Gauthier Coco nieces and nephews.

She was a graduate of Moreauville High School Mimi was very active in the Sacred Heart Church and School where she served as president of several organizations, taught CCE for many years and along with her husband, taught the married couple session of Pre Cana classes. She was a strong southern lady, a fabulous homemaker and cook. She had a sharp mind, a quick wit, and beautiful blue eyes. Above all, she valued her family and friends with unequaled love and pride, often referring to her brilliant and beautiful grandchildren. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and greatgrandmother.

The family would like to thank: Lorraine Tee Cannon and Peter Lofton for years of love and caring that enabled Mimi and Daddy to remain at home for so long. They would also like to thank Pat and Jay Soldani and Diane Bordelon for their kind hearts and generous spirits.
