Funeral Mass for Bertha Firmin of Cottonport will begin at 1:00pm on Monday, December 11, 2023 at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church in Plaucheville with Fr. Martin Laird officiating. Burial will follow at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 8:00am to 12:30am on Monday, December 11, 2023 at Escude Funeral Home in Cottonport. Rosary at 11:30am at Escude Funeral Home in Cottonport.

Bertha Firmin , age 100, passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at her residence.

When she wasn't tending to her beloved garden, Bertha could be found picking pecans. She had a knack for quilting and crocheting, skillfully weaving intricate designs that would become cherished heirlooms. These talents showcased her creativity and patience, traits she shared with others.

As we grieve the loss of this remarkable woman, we take solace in the memories and the lasting impact she had on all of our lives. We will forever remember her warm smile, her kind heart, and the wisdom she imparted.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Faye Bailey-Baker; son, Al John Firmin; sisters, Molly Gagnard and Elmade rabalais; grandchildren, Dawn Bailey-Shinn, Jessica Faye Bailey, David Allen Firmin, Rebecca Firmin-Corpora, Alison Firmin; great-grandchildren, Abigail Jackson, Christopher Shinn, Brandon Shinn, Zachary Shinn, Trinity Lyons, and Adam Stokes.

She was preceded in death by her son, Larry Firmin; husband, Lurry Firmin; parents, Prosper and Rosema Francois; sister, Erline Kojis; brother, Bruce Paul Francois; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Escude Funeral Home of Cottonport (552 Front Street).
