Beryl Smith

September 16, 1936 — January 15, 2016

Memorial mass for Beryl Smith, a native of Bordelonville, LA and a resident of Baton Rouge for the past 55 years, will be celebrated at St. Peter Catholic Church in Bordelonville on Friday, January 22, 2016 beginning at 11am with Fr. Jamin David officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Escude Funeral Home.
Beryl J. Smith, age 79, passed away on Friday, January 15, 2016 at Baton Rouge General Hospital, Butterfly Unit. She was born on Sept 16, 1936 to Annie Lou and Wilmer Smith. After graduating from Bordelonville High she attended Charity Hospital School of Nursing and became a Registered Nurse. Over the years, she held many various jobs including working at BR General & OLOL and as an office nurse. Beryl worked in mental health units at BR General and Meadowood as a counselor for mental health and addictive diseases. She has sold real estate, worked as a sales rep, traveled the US doing hospital accreditations and upon retirement, worked for the Baton Rouge Convention Bureau. Beryl was an avid LSU football fan, loved to travel and enjoyed fishing. She is preceded in death by her parents & two infant siblings. She is survived by numerous cousins, extended family, godchildren and friends who will miss her dearly.
