Betty Dufour St. Romain After a lengthy battle with Alzheimers Disease and Parkinsons Disease, Betty Dufour St. Romain, age 79 went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 8, 2008. She was born on September 9, 1929 in Plaucheville, La. She was preceded in death by her father Edwin Dufour, her mother Eura Plauche Dufour, her brother Philip Dufour, her sister Lucille Sister Mary Philip, and her sister Cora Dufour Stevens Sicard. Betty is survived by her husband of 59 years, Edmond St. Romain living in Mansura, La., 8 children, 23 grandchildren, 1 step grandchild, and 17 great-grandchildren. Her children are: Philip St. Romain married to Lisa Bellecci and living in Wichita, Kansas; Cynthia Poret married to Ray Poret and living in Mansura, La.; Kenneth St. Romain married to Lucille Garrett and living in New Roads, La.; Dale St. Romain living in Madirra, Florida; Rose Anne St. Romain living in Mansura, La.; Sheila McWilliams married to Hugh McWilliams and living in Kolin, La.; Todd St. Romain married to Sondra Fisher and living in Mansura, La.; June Kennedy married to Mark Kennedy and living in Durham, North Carolina. Bettys life was dedicated to her family, devotion to her Catholic faith, and a love of flowers. She was active in many organizations such as the St. Pauls Ladies Altar Society, the American Legion Auxillary, and the Knights of Columbus Auxillary. She founded a Blue Army cell prayer group dedicated to Mary which grew into another cell. She was very active in St. Pauls Church serving as a lector, singing in the choir, and serving as president of the St. Paul School mothers club years ago. Bettys love for flowers and gardening led to her serving as president of the Moreauville Garden Club and becoming a nationally accredited flower show judge. Betty was diagnosed with Alzheimers Disease in 1994. In 1998 her condition necessitated residential care at Colonial Nursing Home in Marksville, La. In 2007 her family moved her to Rio Sol Nursing Home in Mansura, La. Her family is very grateful to the staff of Colonial Nursing Home, Rio Sol Nursing Home and Hospice Care of Louisiana, Alexandria, for their years of taking care of her. Betty St. Romains funeral services were held at St. Pauls Catholic Church in Mansura on Monday, November 10, 2008.
