Services for Mr. Bordelon will be held at 10 am Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Hessmer. Burial will follow in the St. Alphonsus Church Cemetery under the direction of Escude Funeral Home of Mansura.
Byron A. Bordelon, age 90, was born on February 12, 1920. He lived the majority of his life on Large Road except for a short time in New Orleans and his service history.
Mr. Bordelon was a sweet potato farmer, cattleman, horseman, and raised amazing dogs. He was never seen without his dog in the back of his pickup truck.
He held membership in sweet potato associations and cattleman associations. In 2000, he was awarded the distinguished service award for 45 years of sweet potato farming. He was also a WWII Army veteran.
Mr. Bordelon was married to Ruby Zimmer Bordelon for 69 wonderful years. He is survived by Ruby and three children, Nelson, Ramley Nancy, and Barbara Loukadakis, 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, one sister, Mildred Ferry.
He is preceded in death by one daughter, Myra Bordelon Pollard, his Parents, Irene and Lanson Bordelon, and his sister, Annette Daniel.
He will be loved and missed by all his family, and those who loved him as family.
Public Visitation will be held on Monday, April 12, 2010 from 5:30pm until 10pm at the Escude Funeral Home in Mansura.
