Clifford Desselles

Wake services for Clifford Ray Tick Desselle will be held on Saturday, June 20, from 7:00am until 11:00am at the St. Peters Catholic Church Hall in Bordelonville, with a funeral mass at 11:00am at St. Peters Catholic Church. Mr. Desselle, age 79, of Bordelonville passed away Thursday, June 18, 2009 at Avoyelles Hospital in Marksville. A native and lifelong resident of Bordelonville, Mr. Desselle was a member of St. Peters and St. Michaels Catholic Church. He was the primary cracklin cook at the annual church fair for many years. He was a disabled U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict, Mr. Desselle was also active in the Bordelon-Voorhies American Legion Post 343 in Bordelonville, and the local chapter of the Disabled American Veterans and the Louisiana Forty and Eight 430. Mr. Desselle loved to hunt, fish, trap, garden, and cook. He also enjoyed any LSU sport and especially loved to attend the track and field events. In later years he participated in the Senior Olympics and won ribbons in the game of Horseshoe. He was a Boy Scout of America ScoutMaster for 21 years. With an impressive number of scouts who earned the distinction of Eagle Scout. Mr. Desselle was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar Eleanor Lemoine Desselle; sisters, Inez Desselle, Louise Arnaudville, and Audrey Coco, brothers, Lloyd, Cleo, Raymond Errol Desselle; sister-law, Lola Hess Fountain Virgie Mae Hess. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Verna Jean Hess of Bordelonville; son, Glenn Ray Desselle of Rexmer; step-daughter, Ashley Ann Laborde of Bordelonville; sisters, Eleanor D. Mitchel of Baton Rouge, Leona D. Laborde of Metairie; brothers, Jude Desselle of Greenwell Springs, James Oscar Desselle of St. Francisville, George Wayne Desselle of Baton Rouge; sister-in laws, Maggie Hess Charrier Birtie Lee Lemoine of Big Bend, Mattie Hess Charrier of St. Bernard, Shirley Hess Zenk of Denison, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews all of whom loved to visit Tick, a nickname given to him by his step-daughter at a very young age. Pallbearers will be his scouts, his nephews, and family friends. Funeral services and arrangements are under the direction of Escude Funeral Home.
