Funeral services for Clifton Jackson, Sr., age 89 of Moreauville, will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2013 beginning at 11am at the Simpson Baptist Church in Moreauville. Visitation will also be held at the church on Saturday, August 17, 2013 beginning at 8am until time of services. Burial will be held at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Cemetery.
Clifton Jackson Sr. was born on August 24, 1924 to the late Edward Jackson and Viola Sylvan of Oakdale, La. He departed this life August 9, 2013 He was married to Christine A. Jackson and from this union, three sons and one daughter were born.
He was a dedicated member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, where he served as a faithful deacon. A World War II veteran, he was a dedicated and cherished member of VFW Post 3841 Gerard Joseph Post. He later became a construction and railroad worker and retired after years of esteemed and appreciated service.
Clifton was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Leroy Franklin, Edward Jackson Jr. and Isreal Jackson.
He leaves to mourn his passing yet cherish his memory Christine Jackson, his beloved wife of 63 years a daughter, Narcille Jackson, of Moreauville, La. and three sons: Clifton Jackson Jr. Florence, of Alexandria, La., Birthrim Jackson Gilder, of Cottonport, La., and Joseph Jackson Cheryl of Baton Rouge, La. He also leaves in remembrance a brother, Norris Jackson, of Moreauville a sister, Agnes Jackson of Port Arthur, Texas eight grandchildren: Leticia Jackson Mabry, Devellious Jackson, Marcus Jackson, Joseph D. Jackson, Anthony Guillory Jr., Derrick Guillory, Lakeytha Guillory Clayton and Crystal Guillory Hundley eight greatgrandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and other friends and relatives.
