Clyde Laborde

August 10, 1948 — September 7, 2021

Mansura

Mr. Clyde Joseph Laborde was born, on Tuesday, August 10, 1948, to Lawrence and Dorothy Laborde.

In 1966, Clyde graduated from Hessmer High School in Hessmer, LA and graduated from LSU with a degree in forestry in May of 1971.

He was joined in Holy Matrimony to the former Gail Aymond on August 12, 1970. This union was blessed with three loving children and in 1976, the Laborde’s built their forever home in Mansura.

Clyde loved his family and committed himself to provide for his wife and children.  He was a consistent provider and disciplinarian to his three growing children. He was also a loving son to his parents and younger brother all the days of his life.

After earning his bachelor’s degree in forestry, Clyde worked for his father building homes for central Louisiana. He worked at the prison for a few years and pursued a career with Life of Georgia before joining Shell Oil for 30 years offshore on a production platform. He retired in April of 2008. In Clyde’s early years he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his dad and cousins.  Later in life, after starting a family, he enjoyed the challenges of farming and riding his motorcycle with his wife and friends.

Clyde is survived by his wife, Gail Laborde of Mansura and three children: Kevin Laborde (Jannie) of Center Point, Craig Laborde of Mansura, and Melissa Graf (John) of Cincinnati, OH.

He is also survived by two grandchildren, Austin Laborde (Dee) and Greyson Laborde; granddaughters, Baylee and Kinsley Laborde, brother, Wayne Laborde (Luzviminda) of Mansura.  Additionally, Clyde is survived by a host of relatives, including niece, Kristie Wilson (Les) of Austin, TX.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers: Austin Laborde, Patrick Chenevert, Matthew Deshotel, Conrad Deshotel, Steve Mitchel, & Blaine Villemarette.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence A. Laborde and Dorothy Deshotel Laborde and their beloved chihuahua Angel of 16 years.

Clyde Laborde joined our loving Heavenly Father on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at the St. Francis Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria, LA.

Clyde J. Laborde, our husband, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, grandfather/great-grandfather and friend would like you to know that his work here is done.  Clyde received a call on Tuesday, September 7th, a sort of an offer you can’t refuse, for an appointment from which he will not be returning.  This assignment comes with a huge sign-on bonus, a reunion with family and friends he has not seen in a long time.  Clyde’s new mission takes him to a wonderful place where he will be socializing, dancing, fishing/hunting, riding his motorcycle at fast speeds, listening to music and eating delicious foods!

Our mission here on earth is to carry on his memory for the loving person he was.  Death leaves a heartache that only God can heal but Love leaves a memory that no one can ever steal.

Visitation will begin at 5:00pm until 9:00pm on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at Escude Funeral Home in Mansura.  Visitation will resume at 8:00am until 10:30am on Thursday, September 9, 2021 with a Funeral Mass at 11:00am at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Hessmer with Fr.
