Funeral services for Mrs. Cora Veade Gauthier, age 83, will be held on Thursday, February 21, 2013 beginning at 11am at St. Marys Catholic Church of Cottonport with Father Jaime Medina Cruz officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 beginning at 4pm and ending at 9pm, and will resume the following morning at 8am at the Escud Funeral Home of Cottonport. A rosary will be held at 7pm on Wednesday. Interment will be held in St. Marys Cemetery 2.
Mrs. Cora, native of Plaucheville a resident of Cottonport, was preceded in death by an infant son, John Gauthier, son, Paul Gauthier of Cottonport, sister Romaine Lachney of Plaucheville, her parents Amy Rabalais Veade and Linton Veade of Plaucheville, stepmother Nora Veade of Plaucheville.
Survivors include her husband, Roy Gauthier of Cottonport, one daughter, Gail Valentour Joseph E. Jr. of Lafayette two sons, Steven Gauthier of Elton and Douglas Gauthier of Cottonport, one brother Webster Veade of New Orleans. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Kerri Richardson Brad of Lafayette, Katie Valentour of Lafayette, Chad Gauthier Heather of Cottonport, John Gauthier Jessica of Dupont, Michael and Daniel Gauthier of Lafayette and four greatgrandchildren, Jacob Gauthier of Cottonport, Kade Gauthier of Dupont, Lexie and Landon Richardson of Lafayette, numerous nieces, nephews, greatnieces and greatnephews.
Mrs. Cora retired after working 52 years as CoOwner of Roys Supermarket in Cottonport. Mrs. Cora was very active in assisting families by collecting clothing various items for families in need. Her generosity was always greatly appreciated. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening, and reading. Mrs. Cora was a loving and caring soul and will be missed by her family and those who knew her.
Pallbearers will be Steven Gauthier, Douglas Gauthier, Chad Gauthier, John Gauthier, Michael Gauthier Daniel Gauthier and Crossbearer will be Jacob Gauthier.
