Funeral services for Corine Sampson Augustine of Moreauville will take place at the Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church of Moreauville on Saturday, December 1, 2012, beginning at 11:00am with Father Martin Laird officiating. Visitation will also be held on Saturday, from 8:00am to 11:00am at the Escud Funeral Home of Moreauville. Burial services will commence at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
Corine Augustine, age 102, passed away at the Valley View Nursing Home on Wednesday, November 21, 2012. Born on September 26, 1910 in Mansura, she was the daughter of the late Horace Maria Landoff Sampson. She is preceded in death by her husband, Walter Augustine, three brothers five sisters. She is survived by three daughters, Irene Baker of Alexandria, Leata Grubbs of Los Angeles, and Loumarjorie Harris R.K. Harris of Los Angeles. She was blessed with 12 grandchildren Michael Baker, Helen Baker, Gilda Edwards, Patrick Baker deceased, La Vance Grubbs, Jr., Vivian Grubbs, Paula Grubbs Scott, Cheryl Grubbs Simpson, Ronald Grubbs, Karen Grubbs Long, Dr. Leon Wilson, Michael Harris, A. Marin, Ruth Bosque. Her grandchildren lovingly called her Fat Mamma. She is also survived by her 20 greatgrandchildren, 11 greatgreatgrandchildren, her beloved goddaughter Mary Dupas, and host of nieces nephews.
Mrs. Corine was a devote Catholic and a faithful member of the Knights of Peter Claver for many years. She was known for her fabulous cooking and stylish dress. During her life of more than a century, she showed a tremendous amount of love and devotion to her family and friends. She surely will be missed.
