Funeral Mass for Curtis Mitchel of Simmesport will begin at 11:00am on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at the St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Bordelonville. Burial will follow at the St. Peter’s Catholic Mausoleum.
Curtis Mitchel, age 92, left to be with Jesus on Sunday, September 6, 2020 at the St. Joseph Carpenter’s House in Baton Rouge surrounded by his family.
Curtis served in the army during World War II and retired as a talented carpenter.
He leaves behind his wife of 71 years, Eleanor Desselle Mitchel of Bordelonville; children: Ronald (Denise) Mitchel, Rebecca (Bobby) Byrd, Warren (Rochelle) Mitchel and Christal (Kevin) Davis; brother, Albert Mitchell 16 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; numerous brothers and sisters; and special granddaughter, Erica Byrd.
Visitation will begin at 10:00am until time of service on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at the St. Peter’s Church Hall in Bordelonville.
