Dolores "Dolly" Chatelain, age 78, passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2015.
She was born in Hessmer, Louisiana to Wallace Watts, and Elisa Deglandon Watts.
Dolly was a life-long member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. She was one of the first Eucharistic ministers commissioned in the church. An active member of the church community, Dolly served on and as leader of the Altar Society and the Knights of Columbus Ladies' Auxiliary. Her commitment to the church was matched only by her commitment to her family. Dolly coached softball, drove sheep trailers, sat in the bleachers and travelled near and far to see grandchildren. She could be counted on for thoughtfulness, good ideas and hard work - especially if it helped lighten someone else's load.
Serving others was her passion and delight. Dolly loved nothing more than to host family get-togethers. Her home was open to all. Many a friend or neighbor have enjoyed a cup of her homemade soup, pumpkin muffins or molasses cookies when they were ill or in need of comfort.
Dolly worked alongside her husband and in the family insurance business for many years. Her hobbies have included bowling, and a rousing game of bourre with her "card ladies".
Dolores is survived by her children, Cindy Blanchard, Charlotte (Joshua) Syna and Dwayne (Aimee) Chatelain; eight grandchildren, Randall Blanchard, Jr, Christopher Blanchard, Rebekah Blanchard, Caleb Syna, Lily Syna, Madelyn Chatelain, Eliza Chatelain and baby Chatelain arriving in September; three great-grandchildren, Randy Blanchard III, Elizabeth Blanchard and Easton Blanchard; sisters Beryl Guillory, Carol Simon and Lou Lemoine and brother Wallace Watts III. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Fernand Chatelain and one infant child, John Chatelain.
She also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends, including her beloved "breakfast ladies"; Dolly touched many lives and will be missed by all.
