Don E. "Donnie" Firmin, II

August 20, 1974 — January 21, 2025

Plaucheville

It is with much sadness and pain that we regrettably announce and attempt to accept the passing of Donnie Firmin, father, husband, son, friend, and so much more. Donnie as an individual, was known mostly for his goodness. He carried a lot of heavy burdens throughout his life. He endured experiences that almost constantly kept himself and those near him in a transitory state. However, through it all, Donnie Firmin maintained a wealth of joy, courage, frivolity, intelligence, strength, understanding, and pride in his professional and personal endeavors. Any person, under any circumstance, who was blessed enough to spend even a short amount of time with him always walked away having gained something precious and irreplaceable. He was a big and undeterred man with a whimsical boisterousness and capacity for unconditional love that was as pure as a child’s. He took people under his wing and always looked at the world with helpful and selfless eyes; he was a mentor of mentors. He worked tirelessly to give his family the life he felt they deserved. He loved his children, grandchildren, parents, brother, niece, nephews, family, and friends fiercely He loved his neighbor as he did himself. Donnie and his family were blessed with an act of extreme love and selflessness when his amazing, loving “sister” Naomi Clark donated her kidney, which granted him the gift of life. This gift gave him 10 months of borrowed time to love all those he dearly loved. He was a man of God; most of all, he treasured his everlasting connection to the love of his life, the reason most constant and responsible for his every breath, Crystal Firmin. He loved gardening, hunting, worshipping, and spending quality time with those who loved him. For every moment spent in pain were two moments of bliss. Though we still need him, we lean on one another and live to make a conscious effort to exist in love and harmony between friends and family, with our eyes constantly looking up toward our heavenly reunion.
