Funeral Mass for Edward Patrick Sampson, Sr. “King Ed” of Mansura will begin at 11am on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Mansura. Burial will be held at St. Paul Cemetery.
Edward Sampson, Sr., age 77, passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at his home in Mansura. King Ed was a member of the Knights of Peter Claver.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 55 years, Rose Marie Sampson of Mansura; daughters, Dorothy (Russell) Augustine, Authuratte Wright, Mary Carmouche, and Stephanie Thomas all of Mansura; sons, Edward Sampson, Jr., Quentin Sampson, and Michael Sampson all of Mansura; sisters, Marie Barton of Marksville, Madeline Lacour of Alexandria, and Mary Dupas of Mansura; brothers, Joseph Sampson and Merlin Sampson both of California. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren: Demond (Tenika) Sampson, O’Brien Sampson, Najee Augustine, Raven Wright, Myesha Carmouche, A'Martinaz Jones, Scott Augustine, Michael Sampson, Patrick Augustine, Devin Thomas, DeMarcus Thomas, Emyra Jones; twelve great-grandchildren; three godchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Patrick Sampson; his parents, Paulin & Regina Batiste Sampson; and seven siblings.
Visitation will begin at 5pm until 10pm on Friday, August 16, 2019 at Escude Funeral Home in Mansura. Visitation will resume at 8am until 10:45am on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at Escude Funeral Home in Mansura.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers: Thomas Augustine, Aron Dupas, Jimmy Sampson, Milton Simmons, Donald McKinley, Albert Sampson, and Robert McKinley. Those serving as honorary pallbearers: Demond Sampson, O’Brien Sampson, Najee Augustine, A'Martinaz Jones, Scott Augustine, Mike Sampson, Patrick Augustine, Devin Thomas, DeMarcus Thomas, Homison Francisco, Gene Holmes, and LaMar Washington.
