Elaine Marie LaBorde Clifford Funeral services for Elaine Marie LaBorde Clifford will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday , March 22, 2007 at St. Mary Assumption Catholic Church in Cottonport. Mrs. Clifford passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at a San Antonio hospital. She was born on August 6, 1945 in Cottonport, La to Robert and Bernice Marie LaBorde, Sr.. On October 14, 1972 she married Claude Donald Don Clifford. Elaine was known for her warm loving personality and generous nature. She could make sincere friends of strangers within a few minutes in her company. It was not unusual for these friendships to last even until the present. She loved her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Family was the heart of Elaine's life, she brought life and joy into every corner. Her life time focus was on those less fortunate. She never turned her back on a person or animal in need. Kindness, mercy and a deep respect for life were with her always. A true Cajun woman she described herself as Cajancoeur, meaning a feminine Cajun heart. She was rightly deeply proud of her Cajun roots. She truly had an angelic soul; she was sensitive, gentle and empathetic. An avid reader and master genealogist, she had worked on her family tree for many years. Elaine read constantly and was articulate. Her extensive reading resulted in an acumen of amazing depth and broadness. She saw the data and information she collected and organized as agift to the generations who followed her. She was meticulous and precise with the information she collected and would spend days to insure accuracy in her work. She saw it as putting love into the things she did, as was her nature. Survivors include her husband Don Clifford of Lakehills, TX, daughters Robin Gayle Clifford of Pineville, La, Judith Marie Clifford Crisp of Menard, TX and Dana Clifford Hawkes of Salt Lake City, Ut.; sons, Robert Gregory Clifford od Schertz, Tx and James Lee Clifford of Lakehills; sister Linda Marie Gaspard of Cottonport, La; brothers Robert LaBorde Jr. of Cottonport and Chris Joseph LaBorde of Mansura, LA; also 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Patricia Ann LaBorde and brother Ricky Paul LaBorde. Visitation will be held at Escude Funeral Home in Cottonport Wednesday from 5 p.m. until time of services Thursday. A wake service will be conducted at 8:00p.m. Wednesday.
