Funeral services for Ella Mae Sampson of Houston, formerly of Mansura, will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at the Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Mansura, beginning at 10:30am. Visitations will take place at the Escude Funeral Home of Mansura on that Saturday, beginning at 9:00am. Ella Mae Sampson was born on January 13, 1933 to the late Alton and Louanna Benjamin in Manusura. She departed this life on October 12, 2009 at the West Houston Hospital of Houston. Ella Mae leaves to mourn her passing: Alfred Cannon, her loving companion, of Mansura; three sons, Frankie Bonnie Sampson of Houston, Leroy Patrice Sampson of Mansura, Donald Benjamin of Bunkie; three daughters, Lynn Weaver, Ella Lee Anthony Sampson, Leshia Benjamin all of Houston; three sisters, Beaulh Dupas and Esma Andrews of Mansura Inez Batiste of Moreauville; brother, Paul Benjamin deceased; three aunts, Teresa Johnson, Edna Murray, Eunice Washington; uncle, Rapheal Augustine. Ella Mae also leaves 19 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 4 sister-in-laws, 1 brother in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Also one special niece Debra Jacobs and two special friends Gwen Sam Anthony McFadden. Pallbearers will include; Paul Benjamin, Paul Batiste, Lincoln Dupas, Marcus Sampson, Chris Young, Alton Weaver. Honorary pallbearers will include; Frankie Sampson, Leroy Sampson, Donald Benjamin, Joseph Dupas, Ervin Young, Joseph Lacarte, Anthony McFadden. Funeral arrangements and services are under the direction of Escude Funeral Home.
