Ellen Bordelon
June 2, 1943 – May 17, 2023
Ellen C. Bordelon, 79, went to her eternal rest on May 17, 2023. A woman of faith, strength, and dignity, she will be dearly missed.
She was born in Hessmer, Louisiana, to Eugenia and Louis Courville. After graduating Avoyelles High School, Ellen married Willie “Bill” Bordelon, Jr., and joined him where he was stationed in California with the Navy. The couple eventually established their home in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where they raised a family of seven children. Ellen was a dedicated wife and mother who kept the family going with schedules, lists, and traditions. A talented seamstress, she clothed her family in custom outfits including several cherished prom and wedding dresses. Her wit and resolve led her to complete LSU’s Paralegal Studies Program and to become a Notary Public. Many at Baton Rouge car dealerships, radio stations, newspapers, and attorneys’ offices knew her as “Mrs. Ellen, the Notary.” She built a successful career while somehow attending each child’s special events, putting dinner on the table each night so her family could eat together, and holding her husband’s hand as they watched television together each evening.
Ellen is preceded in death by her husband Willie Bordelon, Jr., her daughter Mary Bordelon, her sons William Bordelon and Adam Bordelon, her parents Eugenia Guillory Courville and Louis Courville, her in-laws Willie and Carrie Bordelon. She is survived by her children Eileen Hoff (Brandon) of Houston, Texas; Will Bordelon (Megan Pagliuca) of Miami, Florida; Dwight Bordelon (Janet Schreurs) of Denver, Colorado; Victoria Kinchen (Benjamin) of Covington, Louisiana; Laura Bordelon (Allen Brogden) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Amanda Bourne (Matthew) of Indianapolis, Indiana; four grandsons and three granddaughters.
Visitation will take place at Escude Funeral Home in Mansura, Louisiana, on Saturday, May 27, 2023, from 10:30 to 11:30 A.M. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Hessmer, Louisiana, at 12:00 noon. Interment will immediately follow in the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests prayer cards or donations to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
