Rabalais, Elmo Paul Elmo Paul Rabalais, a resident of Moreauville and formerly of Plaucheville, died Saturday, April, 11, 2009, at Avoyelles Hospital. He was 83. Visiting will be at Escude Funeral Home of Moreauville on Monday, April 13, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a wake service at 6:30 p.m. Visiting continues at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 14, from 9 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. A religious service will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Moreauville at 1 p.m. Interment in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery in Plaucheville. He is survived by a daughter, Gayle R. Dufour, of Moreauville; wife, Velma M. Rabalais, of Moreauville; son, Paul H. Rabalais, of Plaquemine; two stepsons, Lester Lemoine and Ray Lemoine, both of Moreauville; two brothers, Hilman Rabalais, of Moreauville and Lawrence Rabalais, of Baton Rouge; a sister, Melba Spedale, of Baton Rouge; six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, five stepgrandchildren and four stepgreat-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Ludger Rabalais; mother, Eva Dufour Rabalais; two brothers, Riley Rabalais and Hubert Rabalais; and a sister, Erline Plauche. He was a retired pipefitter for Nichols Construction Co. of Baton Rouge, a member of Pipefitters Local Union 198, a member of Knights of Columbus and the American Legion Councils for more than 30 years. He was also a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
