Elzora Smith

Elzora Joshua Smith, age 87, of Marksville passed away on Wednesday July 21, 2010. She was born August 16, 1922 in Longbridge to the union of Emile and Lucille Martin Joshua.
At an early age, Ms. Elzora was baptized and became a member of St. John Baptist Church which was pastored by Rev. Remus Thomas. She was an active member and a faithful Deaconess, Sanctuary Choir member, Sunday School member and also organized the Young Womens Auxillary as the organizations President. Her most important ministry was the gift of giving and sharing with others. She was a beautician for many years.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John L. Smith parents, Emile and Lucille Martin Joshua 4
brothers and 4 sisters. Those left to mourn her passing are her children, George L. Smith Pam of Las Vegas, Nevada, Jessie M. Logan Richard of Oakland, CA, Shirley A. Clay deceased husband Carl of Ruston and Mary L. Smith of Marksville brotherinlaws, Joseph Smith Lillie of Richmond, California, Dallas Smith Irma of Oakland, California and Clarence Jones Priscilla of Marksville sisterinlaw Sylvia Homes of Oakland California 6 grandchildren, 2 greatgrandchildren a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services for Mrs. Elzora will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 31, at St. John Community Cemetery under the direction of Escude Funeral Home of Mansura. The family will receive friends on Saturday morning from 8 a.m. until the time of service at St. John Community Church Baptist.
