Esselene “Essie” Lemoine, age 89, passed away Monday, January 6, 2025, at Hessmer Nursing Home. She was a lifelong resident of Mansura, La. She and her husband, Matthews Lemoine, were married in Hessmer, on December 23, 1951. Later in life, she began her career as a bank teller at Mansura State Bank and then at Cenla Bank in Marksville. Near the end of her career, Essie became a bookkeeper at Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Department and worked at Pete Roy Ford in Bunkie, prior to retiring. 

Among her hobbies were sewing, crocheting, gardening, shopping, and cooking. She especially loved spending time with her family, and entertaining family and friends. 

Those left to cherish her are her daughter, Gail Shook (Ron); grandson, Brian Lambert (Billie), of Springfield, MO; a sister, Shirley Daigrepont, of Mansura; sister-in-law, Mary L. Bardwell of Moreauville; and five great-grandchildren. 

Those preceding her in death were her husband, Matthews J. Lemoine; granddaughter, Sheila Smith; and parents, Allen and Anita Laborde.
