Eugenie NeNe Couvillon Coco, 96, a resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Moreauville died on Monday, October 4, 2010 at the Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice in Baton Rouge.
A retired school teacher, Eugenie loved teaching and was loved and respected by all of her students. She graduated from L.S.U. with a B.S. degree in 1935 and later earned her masters degree from L.S.U. in 1957 and certification in Library Science from L.S.U. in 1962. Eugenie had a lifelong love affair with L.S.U. and was an ardent Tiger fan.
MiMi, as she was affectionally known by her grandchildren, is survived by her three children, J. Reginald Coco, Jr. and his wife Harriet, Pauline Coco Jeansonne and her husband Harry, and John Henry Coco and his wife Lynn, all of Baton Rouge eighteen grandchildren, James R. Coco, III and his wife Theresa of Birmingham, Alabama, Ernest Baldwin Coco and his wife Aimee of Mandeville, Laura Coco Montagnino and her husband John of Baton Rouge, Claire Renee Coco of St. Gabriel, Patrice Jeansonne Gremillion and her husband Doug of St. Gabriel, Regina Jeansonne Rispone and her husand Troy of Baton Rouge, Marc Jeansonne and his wife Teri of Baton Rouge, Kim Coco Stewart and her husband John of Baton Rouge, Shawn Coco and his wife Kendra of Belle Chasse, Amy Coco Clark and her husband Richard of Houston, Texas, Eric Coco and his wife Julie of Houston, Texas, Lisa Coco Hargrave and her husband Jason of Baton Rouge, Ana Coco Champion and her husband Christopher of Houston, Texas, Ashley Coco Anderson and her husband John of Dallas, Texas, Renee Coco Allen and her husband Joey of Sorrento, Paul Coco of Baton Rouge, Luke Coco of Baton Rouge, and Patrick Coco of Baton Rouge thirtynine greatgrandchildren, Victoria, Natalie, John James, and Avery Coco, Suzanne and Ryan Coco, Brian and A. J. Montagnino, Stephanie, Aaron, Phillip, Patrick, and Gabrielle Eugenie Gremillion, Reagan and Rachel Rispone, Vivian, Winnfield, and Madeline Jeansonne, Andre, David, Theresa, Catherine, Michael, and Anna Kathleen Stewart, Alexandria and Lucia Coco, Rachel, Isabelle, Bernadette, Charlotte, John Charles, and Benjamin Clark, Lauren and Jack Coco, Maria, Henry, and Oliver Hargrave, and George and Caroline Anderson one greatgreatgrandchild, Kathleen Bunje and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Reginald Coco, Sr. her parents, Henry F. and Oneida Dufour Couvillion her sisters, Beryl C. Gremission and Ida C. Lalande and her brother, Clarence Couvillon.
Visitation will be held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home Downtown in Baton Rouge on Thursday, October 7, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at Escude Funeral Home in Moreauville on Friday, October 8, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and will conclude on Saturday, October 9, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home in Moreauville. Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Moreauville, by Father Marc Noel, at 11:00 a.m. with interment in Sacred Heart Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, James, Ernest, Shawn, Eric, Paul, Luke, and Patrick Coco and Marc Jeansonne. A reception for familyand friends will be held at the Mays LaCour Hall immediately following. Contributions may be made for memorial Masses or online at www.stjosephhospicefoundation.org to the St. Joseph Hospice Foundation in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The family would like to thank the doctors and staffs of St. Clare Manor, Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center and the Carpenter House for their untiring care and attention in the course of her illness.
