Fanchion Marecek Carroll, Aunt Vickie, was born on April 9, 1914, in Omaha, Nebraska to the union of Edward and Clara Marecek. At an early age her parents realized she had talents, and she was entered in dancing and voice lessons. At the age of nine, she entered several contests performing dance routines and immediately captured the interest of dance groups, performing in local theatres. A Theatrical Review scout recognized her abilities and invited her to perform with them. She and her mother, a chaperon and a tutor traveled throughout the United States. She spent hours rehearsing as she had to learn all songs the chorus line sang in the event one of the girls became ill. Some days on a Chicago stage she remembered four shows in one day. At the age of ten, she had become well known in the theatrical group. Her group traveled and performed in Chicago, Kansas City, Tulsa, New York and finally in New Orleans. At the age of seventeen, she decided to retire from this fast life and settle and make New Orleans her home. Completing her education, and then a business education, she was later employed by AP Foods, as a supervisor in the distribution center. She met and married Allen Carroll and upon both their retirements, they chose to make Hessmer their home, the home of Allens birth place.
Vickie was preceded in death by her husband, Allen, her parents, and a brother, Eddie Marecek. She is survived by one brother, Robert Marecek and his wife Lee of Scottsdale, AR. She leaves numerous nieces and nephews who cared for until passing. Allen and Vickie had no children.
