Business owner in Simmesport Maddies One Stop for over 45 years and employed by the Avoyelles Parish Schools as a bus driver for 25 years, he died Friday, March 9, 2012, at Rapides Regional Medical Center. He was 87 and a resident of Simmesport. Visitation at Escude Funeral Home of Simmesport on Sunday, March 11, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with wake service at 7 p.m., and after 8 a.m. Monday. Service at Christ the King Catholic Church, Simmesport, on Monday, March 12, at 11 a.m. Entombment in Christ the King Mausoleum. Survived by his wife, Gladys Maddie, Simmesport sons, Samuel Tommy and wife Cindy Maddie, Simmesport, and William Bill and wife Leslie Maddie, Flower Mound, TX sisters, Annie Ducote, Simmesport, and Rosie Collette, Baton Rouge grandchildren, Mary Allen Maddie, Shelby Maddie, Natalie Maddie, Lindsey Dauzat and Brooke Martel and greatgrandchild, Jordan Stout. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, Simmesport, American Legion Bordelonville Unit and Boy Scouts of America for over 50 years. During this time, he was very well accomplished with the following achievements: established the first Catholic Committee on Scouting, kin 1983 developed the Religious Fellowship Committed in 1985 received the Bronze Pelican Award from BSA recipient of the St. George Award highest Catholic Scouting award in BSA recipient of the Silver Beaver Award highest award a BSA Council can bestow on a Scouter became a member of Ouxouiga Lodge Order of the Arrow in 1962 and was a Vigil Honor in this organization and The Dining Hall at Camp Attakapas was named in his honor Poppa Frank in the mid 90s.
