Genevieve Ducote, age 89, passed away at the Valley View Nursing Home on Saturday, October 15, 2011. She was known as Jenny by her family and friends. She made wonderful cakes with homemade icing and miniature pecan pies. She made sure that every family members birthday was recognized with a favorite cake or a special card or both. She sewed clothes for her nieces for Christmas and Easter and even made angel costumes for midnight Mass. After Sunday Mass, she and her sister Margaret hosted a Sunday morning breakfast of biscuits and coffee for her brothers and sisters and their families. She would spoil her nieces and nephews with trips to the Dairy Queen for ice cream treats. Was an avid fan of the New Orleans Saints and LSU Tigers. She spent many hours on her front porch swing giving advice and enjoying the weather. Her generous heart made sure many of us were supplied with necessities for college dorms and spending money. And her adventurous spirit led her to whitewater rafting in her sixties and spent a vacation at the beach with family in her later seventies.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Felix J. Oneida Ducote brothers sisters, Mary Dean Ducote Gremillion, Huey Paul Ducote, Douglas Ducote, Lee Lydon Ducote, Kermit Ducote, Juliet Ducote Burke, Margaret Ducote Devillier, Ann Ducote. She is survived by her brother, Michael Ducote of Dupont and thirteen nieces nephews and many great nieces nephews.
Services and arrangements are under the direction of Escud Funeral Home.
