Genevieve Rose Prevot Sampson was the third daughter born to the union of the late Verdie Johnson Prevot and Theophile Prevot. Genevieve was born on July 10, 1931 in Mansura, Louisiana. All of her early education was done in Mansura. She accepted the Lord and was baptized at an early age. She was a devout catholic and a dedicated member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church until her death. She was an active member of Knights of Peter Claver, Court #174 and a member of Ladies of Grace Chapter #27.
On November 30, 1948 Genevieve married her soulmate, the late Peter Sampson Sr. To this union fourteen beautiful children were born. She worked hard by her husband’s side on a small farm in Mansura. The fantastic family dynamics permeated from the top with Peter and Genevieve and down to the children. Genevieve taught her children the values of hard work and commitment. She was a strong, hard-working, loving person who knew no limits. In addition to working on the farm and raising her children, she also worked at the Pecan Factory and Bowling Alley. However, her focus was always her husband and children. She was a devoted wife, mother and servant being guided by the Lord every step of the way. She was a great cook who loved pleasing the family with her infamous rolls and blackberry dumplings. She labored many years as that virtuous woman of God until she succumbed to the fight and the Lord called her home to be with Him on July 27, 2020. He said, “You have fought a good fight, you have finished the race, and you have kept the faith, come on home to Me where I will give you rest.”
