Funeral services for George Voinche of Mansura will take place at the St. Paul Catholic Church of Mansura on Saturday, May 19, 2012, beginning at 1:00pm with Fr. Chad Partain officiating. Visitations will be held at the Escud Funeral Home of Mansura prior to the funeral service, from 9:00am to 12:45pm. Burial services will commence at the St. Paul Catholic Cemetery.
George Voinche, age 78, passed away at the Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center of Lafayette on Wednesday, May 16, 2012. Mr. Voinche graduated from Louisiana State University with a Masters Degree in education. He served as a teacher and principal for the Avoyelles Parish School system for over 30 years and served 1 term on the Avoyelles Parish School Board. He also served as an instructor at the LA Business College for 2 years. Mr. Voinche continued to serving the public at Rio Sol Nursing Home until 2011. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Voinche mother, Zepher Voinche father, Robert Gaillard adopted father, Marvin Voinche. He is survived by his children, Georgia Bernard of Mansura, Chris Voinche, Sr. of Alexandria, Brad Voinche of Marksville grandchildren, Robbie Bernard, Jamie Garrette, Jake Bernard, all of Mansura, Casey Voinche, Chris Voinche, Jr., both of Alexandria, Hannah Voinche, Mia Voinche, both of Marksville four greatgrandchildren sister, Roberta Gremillion of Mansura. Pallbearers will include Jake Bernard, John Garrette, Chris Voinche, Jr., Chad Deshotels, Jerome Foster, Ira Escud. Casey Voinche will serve as cross bearer.
In lieu of flowers, because of his years of service in education, the family request that donations be made in his honor to the Avoyelles Public Charter School. Donations can be mailed directly to: Avoyelles Public Charter School 201 Longfellow Rd. Mansura, LA 71350.
He was a great father, loving husband, and a true friend to all
