Funeral services for Gerard Joseph Simon of Moreauville, formerly of Baton Rouge, will take place at the St. Peters Catholic Church of Bordelonville on Friday, July 29, 2011, beginning at 1:00pm with Msgr. Steve Testa officiating. Visitation will be held at the St. Peter Catholic Church Hall, prior to the funeral service, from 9:00am to 1:00pm. Burial services will commence at the Green Oaks Cemetery of Baton Rouge.
Lt. Gerard Joseph Simon Ret., of the East Baton Rouge Sheriffs Office, passed away at the Opelousas General Hospital on Wednesday, July 27, 2011, he was 71 years old. He always had a joke to tell, and he never met a stranger. He was loved by many, and will be remembered for his awesome jambalaya
He is preceded in death by his parents, Barney Lola Armand Simon, Sr. sisters, Margaret Rogers and Beverly Lemoine. He is survived by his wife of 48 years Alice Faye Chatelain Simon of Moreauville children, Julia Simon Kocke husband Michael of Baton Rouge, Kent Joseph Simon wife Lisa of Greenwell Springs, Paula Simon Harper of Denham Springs siblings, Barney Simon, Jr. of Moreauville, Nelda Simon of Simmesport, Myra Gremillion of Plaucheville, Clarence Simon of Eunice. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren, three greatgrandchildren.
