Funeral services for Godfrey Nome Joseph Bordelon of Bordelonville will take place at the St. Peter Catholic Church of Bordelonville on Thursday, May 3, 2012, beginning at 11:00am with Msgr. Steve Testa officiating. Visitations will be held at the St. Peter Church Hall on Wednesday, May 2, 2012, from 4:00pm to 10:00pm and will resume Thursday morning at 8:00am. Burial services will commence at the St. Peter Catholic Cemetery.
Godfrey Bordelon, age 86, passed away at the Grace Home Hospice Center of Alexandria on Tuesday, May 1, 2012. Mr. Nome, as he was known to all, served in the Navy in World War II on the USS Cleveland. He was retired from the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, and was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 343 Bordelon Voorhies of Bordelonville. He worked on the construction of the Morganza Spillway and on the 2 locks that included the Lower Sill Structure at Three Rivers. He is preceded in death by his wife, Christina M. Bordelon parents, Edward Pliney Bordelon sisters, Phyllis Armand, Bernice Mayeux brother, Hewitt Bordelon grandchild, Natalie Bordelon. He is survived by his children, Kenneth and Claire Bordelon of Bordelonville, Bryan and Evette Bordelon of Bordelonville, Jordan and Debra Bordelon of Marksville, Dana and Buddy Bordelon of Bordelonville brothers, Jude Bordelon, Sterling Bordelon sister, Roberta Norman, all of Bordelonville. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren seven greatgrandchildren.
