Funeral services for Harold Paul Scallan of Metairie, age 74, will take place on Thursday, April 22, 2010 at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, beginning at 11:00am. Visitations will be held at the Escude Funeral Home of Mansura on Wednesday, April 21, 2010, from 5:00pm to 9:00pm, and will resume Thursday morning at 8:00am. A wake service will be held Wednesday night at 6:00pm, and burial services will commence at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Mausoleum.
Born in Mansura, La to the late Ivy George Scallan Ruby Lemoine Scallan, he is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Ruby Dauzat Scallan. He is also survived by his two sons, Glenn P. Scallan and wife Carla, Lenn P. Scallan and wife Robin brother, Jerry Scallan five granddaughters, Morgan Smith, Jessica Jane Scallan, Meghan Scallan, Rebecca Scallan, Krissie Fleming two great granddaughters, Makayla Smith Karli Fleming, as well as many nieces, nephews, his puppy Zena. He is preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Scallan.
Mr. Scallan was born and raised in Mansura, until he later moved to New Orleans in 1960 to work with his father as a pipefitter. Soon he began working as a wirerope rigger for the Delta Ship Service Co. Inc. He later went to work for Elm Supply, Co., a marine services company. He worked his way up to shop foreman over the years and retired after 38 years of service to the Elm Supply, Co.
