Funeral services for Harvey Claude "Butch" Allums of Mansura formerly of Bunkie will be held on Monday, June 29, 2015 beginning at 11am at St. Paul the Apostle's Catholic Church in Mansura with Fr. Irion St. Romain officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 28, 2015 beginning at 3pm until 9pm with a Rosary wake service at 7pm at the Escude Funeral Home in Mansura and the visitation will resume Monday morning at 8am. Burial & military honors will be held at the St. Paul Cemetery in Mansura. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Escude Funeral Home.
Harvey "Butch" Allums, age 73, passed away at his home in Mansura on Wednesday, June 24, 2015. Butch was preceded in death by his parents, Melford Allums, Sr. & Bessie Bubenzer Allums; and brother, Melford "Pumpkin" Allums, Jr.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 28 years, Priscilla Escude Allums; daughters, Jennifer Elmer Michel (Blair) and Jill Elmer Chatelain; sons, Ben Allums (Melissa), Scott Elmer (Diane), Wesley Elmer (Alexandra), and Derrick Elmer; sister, Patricia "Puds" Allums Denton; cousins: Grady Bubenzer, Kemper Bubenzer, Lucille Bubenzer, and Nora "Teenie" Wagner. He also leaves eleven grandchildren: Jeremy, Bo, Christopher, Raven, Ethan, Tristan, Thierry, Parker, Ava, Lucas, and Bailey.
Butch served in the Navy on the U.S.S. Millinnix for four years as a radio operator, during which he saw many parts of the world. He, with his cousins, enjoyed a life of farming primarily sugar cane and cotton. His hobbies included restoring old cars, particularly his Mustang and GTO, going to car shows and traveling with his beloved wife, Priscilla, in their RV. He most enjoyed family time and was ready to grill for his children and grandchildren anytime.
