Helen Lavalais Barton, age 76, of Marksville, LA, died Saturday, August 23, 2008, at Avoyelles Hospital in Marksville, LA. She was the daughter of the late Arthur Lavalais and the late Jane Lavalais She is survived by her husband, George Barton of Marksville; three daughters, Linda Jordan of Mansura, LA, Cherry Jacob of Niceville, FL, Jacqueline Drones of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; two sons, Lonnie Jordan of Nashville, TN, George McKay Keller of Marksville, LA; four step-sons, Hank Barton of Topeka, KS, Rodney and Robert Barton both of Marksville and Gregory Barton of Topeka, KS; five sisters, Joe Ann Fields of Houston, TX, Pearl Hodges of Houston, TX, Janet Gonzales of Marksville, LA, Herrit Lavalais Daranda of Marksville, LA and Carrie Lavalais of Marksville, LA; three brothers, Rayfield Lavalais of Marksville, LA, Russell Lavalais of Houston, TX and Oscar Lavalais of Houston, TX; Ten Grand Children and Five Great-Grand Children Arrangements are being handled by Escude Funeral Home of Mansura, LA. Mrs. Barton will lie in state at St. John Community Baptist Church on Saturday, August 30, 2008 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.. Services begin at 11 a.m. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery.
