Hollis Firmin, Sr.

Hollis Firmin Sr. age 89, born on April 9, 1921, passed away Monday, May 17, 2010 at Flannery Oaks Nursing Home in Baton Rouge. He was a resident of Central, Louisiana. He was a retired construction contractor. He leaves behind a very special friend, Joyce Ballard who has so lovingly cared for him for the last few years of his life, to whom the family wants to give a very special thank you. He is survived by his five children, Hollis Firmin, Jr., Alice Firmin Lemoine and spouse Russell Lemoine, Telsia Firmin Porche, Randy Firmin and spouse Valrie, and Beverly Firmin Smith and spouse Clayton Smith, 11 grandchildren and 12 greatgrandchildren. Four brothers, Charles Firmin, Earl Firmin, Benedict Firmin and C. J. Firmin and one sister, Audrey Guillory.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of over 50 years, Mary Etta Firmin, a son, Evans Anthony Firmin, a grandson, Russell Joseph Lemoine Jr., a soninlaw, Paul B. Porche Sr., father, Benedict Firmin Sr, mother, Jane Jolibois Firmin, four brothers, Holcombe Firmin, Nelson Firmin Sr., Oswald Firmin and Harold Firmin.
Services will be held at Escude Funeral Home in Cottonport, La on Tuesday, May 18th from 4:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m. and again on Wednesday, May 19th from 8:30 to 10:00 with services at Mater Dolores in Plaucheville, La at 11:00.
Pallbearers are, Paul Porche Jr., Lucas Firmin, Evans Lemoine, Gene Jewell, Russell Lemoine Sr. and Clayton Smith. Honorary pallbearers are Charles Firmin and John B. Firmin.
