Bro. James Pierr was born August 16, 1935 to the union of the late DeClause Pierre and the late Florence Batiste Pierr of Longbridge, La. He was the youngest of three brothers, which preceded him in death. He was educated in Avoyelles Parish School System. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized by the late Rev. W.L. Blackman at Little Zion Baptist Church. He began his service in the church as a choir member until he joined the usher board. Bro. James was a faithful and dedicated member of the usher board for more than thirty until his health began to fail. He was united in holy matrimony to Marilyn Augustine Pierr on April 20, 1963 and to this union three sons were born. He leaves to cherish is memories, his loving and dedicated wife of 46 years; Marilyn A. Pierr, sons; Peter L. Zodie of Baton Rouge; Anthony J. Diaine of Ethel; Albert L. Katrice of Shreveport; James Pierre of Cottonport. Seven grandchildren; Elgie of Fort Meade; Dameone of Alexandria; Terrell of Baton Rouge; Blane Alaysha of Ethel; Darius Darien of Shreveport. Three brother-in-laws, Samuel Lucas, Vernon Marion Augustine, Lester Thelma Augustine all of Mansura. Five sister-in-laws; Amy Augustine Gilda Augustine of Mansura, Eula Eldon Batiste of Cocoville, Mary Prier of Charleston, and Helen Stafford of Little Rock. Two aunts; Annabel Hudson and Inez Batiste of Longbridge. One great aunt, Elnora Williams of Shreveport. A host of nieces, nephews, godchildren, other relatives friends. Preceded in death by his parents DeClause Florence Pierr and two brothers, Edward Laurent Dempsey Pierr.
