Funeral services for John "JJ" James native of Mansura & former resident of New Orleans will be held on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 beginning at 10am at Escude Funeral Home in Mansura with Rev. Michael Gonzales officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 beginning at 8am until the time of service. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Escude Funeral Home.
John "JJ" James, age 82, passed away at East Jefferson General Hospital in Metairie on Thursday, January 7, 2016 at 3:15pm. A Child of God, John James, was born on April 26, 1933 to Zetsher Green James & Thomas Earl James, Sr. The Word of God was planted in his heart through Baptism at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Mansura at an early age and later in life at First Emmanuel Baptist Church in New Orleans under the leadership of Rev. Samuel Hadley and the present Sheppard, Rev. Dr. Charles J. Southall, III. John served on the Usher Board until he moved his membership to Second Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Robert Myers, where he also served on the Usher Board until his demise. John is now resting in the loving arms of his Eternal Father.
John was preceded in death by his mothers, Zetsher Green James & Victoria Duranda James; father, Thomas Earl James, Sr.; sister, Theresa J. Francisco; wife, Lillian Condoll James; his devoted & loyal companion, Harriet Y. Kaho; grandmother, Mary Duranda; and several nieces & nephews.
Those left to cherish his memory and mourn his passing are his three brothers and four sister-in-laws: Terence (Iris Ann) James & Richard (Ruby) James all of Kent, WA; Lonest (Vida) James & Joyce James all of Mansura. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, extended relatives & friends.
