John V. Lemoine John Villeneuve Lemoine, 79, of Plaucheville, died Friday, April 24, 2009 at Rio Sol Nursing Home in Mansura. Visitation will be held at Escud Funeral Home in Cottonport on Saturday, April 25, 2009 from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. and will reopen at 8 a.m. on Sunday, April 26, 2009. Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 26, 2009 at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church in Plaucheville under the direction of Escud Funeral Home of Cottonport. John V. was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur C. and Aline Plauch Lemoine, sisters, Flavia Gremillion, Sister Maxelinda, C.D.P., Eleanor Fitzgerald, brothers Anthony, Charles and Leo Lemoine. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Escud Lemoine of Plaucheville, step-children Shelley Jo McCullough of Mansura and Jan B. Mayeaux of Lafayette, sister Bernice Barrios and husband A. J. Barrios of Baton Rouge, brothers Lester Lemoine of Bunkie, Alvin Lemoine and wife Mary of Baton Rouge, grand-children Seth Mayeaux and wife Christy of Carencro, Rachel Mayeaux, Alexandra Mayeaux and Sophia Blanche Mayeaux, all of Lafayette, and numerous nieces and nephews. John V. was a life-long handyman, electrician, carpenter and plumber. His passion was building toys for children. He served as an alderman for the Village of Plaucheville. He also served as administrator for the Mater Dolorosa Cemetery for 26 years. Mr. Lemoine served our country in the Army and was stationed in Alaska during the Korean War from 1951 through 1953.
