John Rusk

Funeral services for Mr. John Dewey Rusk will be held on Sunday, December 21, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church in Simmesport with Father Dwight Jesus officiating. Escude Funeral Home of Simmesport is in charge of services.

Mr. Rusk, age 84, born on June 13, 1930, of Simmesport, passed away at his residence on December 19, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lessie Bonnette Rusk, one brother, Laurie Rusk, two sisters, Minnie Mayeaux, and Nevelelyn Dechesne.


He was a man with a love for the outdoors, a loving family man with a huge loving heart, a proud grandfather who loved his grandchildren. He is gone by not forgotten.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Mary Alice Rusk of Simmesport, two sons, David Rusk of Katy, TX, Micheal Rusk of Baton Rouge, one daughter, Brenda Dauzat of Simmesport, two brothers, Daniel Rusk of Longview, TX, Truman Rusk of Simmesport, two sisters, Mamie Ard of Simmesport, Barbara Clark of Alabama, 6 grandchildren, Michelle Moreau, Nicholas Dauzat, Sarah Laporte, Elaina Rusk, Jessica Rusk, Michael Rusk, three great grandchildren, Hubert Moreau, Tyler Dauzat and Chloe Dauzat.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 21, 2014 at Escude Funeral Home in Simmesport from 9:00 a.m. until shortly before funeral service time with a rosary to be recited at 11:00 a.m.
