Funeral services for Johnny E. Roy of Bunkie will take place at the Little Flower Catholic Church of Evergreen on Thursday, June 28, 2012, beginning at 11:00am with Fr. Edwin Rodriguez Fr. Bartholmaw Ibe officiating. Visitations will be held at the Escud Funeral Home of Wednesday, June 27, 2012, beginning at 5:00pm and will continue all night until the funeral service on Thursday morning. Burial services will commence at the Little Flower Cemetery of Evergreen.
In 1998, Mr. Roy was awarded the Distinguished Service Award from the Avoyelles Sweet Potato Association for outstanding services in the Sweet Potato Industry. He was a board member of the Avoyelles Sweet Potato Association for 8 years 2002 2010, 4 of those years he served as president. He also served as a board member on the Louisiana Sweet Potato Association for 8 years. He was a leader at National, State, Parish levels in the development of the Sweet Potato Industry. Mr. Roy was also a member of the National Watermelon Association.
Johnny Roy, age 54, passed away at the Bunkie General Hospital on Sunday, June 24, 2012. He is preceded in death by his father, Earl Roy. He is survived by his wife, Elaine Roy of Bunkie children, Jason Roy Mary Adams of Hessmer, Lucas Roy Lauren of Bunkie, Jackie Roy Keith Guillot of Hessmer mother, Betty Roy of Hessmer brothers, David Roy Shirlene of Hessmer, Joey Roy of Mansura sisters, Cynthia Vead Dale, Celia Juneau Rickey, Lisa Mose Neil, all of Hessmer, Elizabeth Gauthier Joey of Mansura, Kathy Smith Scott of Hessmer grandchild, Maggie Roy of Bunkie. He is also survived by twentythree nieces nephews and sixteen greatnieces nephews.
Services and arrangements are under the direction of Escud Funeral Home.
