Funeral services for Joseph Joe Basco of Mansura will be held on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 beginning at 11am at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marksville with Fr. Irion St. Romain officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 2, 2014 beginning at 5pm until 9pm Rosary 7pm and will resume the following morning at 8am at the Escud Funeral Home in Mansura. Interment will be at the St. Joseph No. 2 Mausoleum in Marksville. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Escud Funeral Home.
Joseph Joe Basco passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 12:55am. He was born on July 12, 1930 in Gorum, La. Joe was patient, soft spoken, and always willing to help others. He fought a courageous battle against cancer with strength and grace.
He served in the U.S. Army in Korea Vietnam, and worked at Escud Insurance Co. for over 20 years. He was a member on the Marksville Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post 130, and VFW Post 3139.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Elzey Louise Basco and brothers, Robert Marcus Basco.
He is survived by his wife Johnette Basco of Mansura stepchildren: Lisa Mayeux Coco of Pineville, Robert Mayeux Jane of Marksville, Richard Mayeux Faye of Plaucheville, Timothy Frink Gail of Everett, Wa and Patrick Frink Billie of Dallas, Tx sisters, Ella Bishop Annie Bynog both of Pineville brothers, Harold Eugene Basco both of Pineville. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren: Ashley Swinney, Michael Laborde, Brian Laborde, Eric Mayeux, Chase Mayeux, Haley Mayeux, Corey Mayeux, David Mayeux, Amy Lachney, Jill Mayeux, Dawnelle Frink, Kimberly Frink, Micheal Frink, and Jessica Frink and fifteen greatgrandchildren: Emily Swinney, Garret Luke Laborde, Logan Aubree Lachney, Landon Isabelle Mayeux, Wesley Bowman, Tanner Frink, Zorra, Brianna, C.J., Paxton Kelby Lewis, Hailey Frink.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers: Michael Laborde, Brian Laborde, Corey Mayeux, David Mayeux, Eric Mayeux, Chase Mayeux.
