Joycelyn Coco

Funeral service for Joycelyn Coco of San Antonio will begin at 11:00am on Monday, October 7, 2024, at Escude Funeral Home in Moreauville. Burial will follow at the Shiloh Baptist Cemetery in Hamburg. 

Joycelyn Coco, age 88, passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, in San Antonio, TX. Joycelyn was originally from Moreauville then moved to New Orleans and became a beloved Special Education teacher from 1968 until 2005. After Hurricane Katrina, Joycelyn and her husband were relocated to San Antonio. She was also an advocate for animal rights, and she loved going to church every Sunday morning, teaching Sunday School to the children, cooking, painting, writing poems, and crocheting her clothes in her spare time.

Those left to cherish her memory are her nieces and nephews, Velma Mayeux-Berniard, Melody Mayeux, Keisha Mayeux, Broderick Mayeux, Theron Mayeux, and Kathy Mayeux. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Emile Coco, Mary Hudson, Ellis Ann Coco, and Sam Baker. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Coco; parents, Clifton & Leora Mayeux; siblings, Winston Mayeux, Basil Mayeux, and Barbara Mayeux. 

Visitation will begin at 9:00am until 11:00am on Monday, October 7, 2024, at Escude Funeral Home in Moreauville.
