Funeral services for Lionel Simon of Marksville will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2018 beginning at 11:00am at St. John Community Baptist Church in Marksville. Visitation will begin on Saturday, April 21, 2018 beginning at 9:00 until 11:00am at St. John Community Baptist Church in Marksville. Burial & Military Honors will commence at Starlight Baptist Church in Marksville. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Escude Funeral Home.

Lionel Simon, age 68, passed away on Friday, April 13, 2018 at his home in Marksville. He is preceded in death by his mother, Pearline Conway; son, Lionel Kelly Sr.; brother, Robert Simon.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 44 years, Gwendolyn Laurent Simon of Marksville, LA; father, Ernest Simon and step-mother, Bernice Simon of Marksville,LA; daughters, Myeshia Simon and Shameka Augustine both of Marksville, LA; sons, Taji Simon Sr. of Marksville, LA and Kerry Laurent of Houston, TX; sisters, Bernadine Davis, Gloria Augustine, Oprah James, Debra Ford, Charlene Simon, Cheri Leget, and Linda Vonquintus; brothers, Aaron Simon, Michael Simon, Gary Lee Simon , Earl Sanders, Jessie Barnes, Billy Barnes, Charles Barnes, and Bruce Barnes. He is also survived by seventeen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
