Maggie was born on October 6, 1921 in Big Bend, Louisiana to Delia Mary Kimble Hess and Herman Joseph Hess, Sr. and died on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at Oakmont Assisted Living Estate in Cocoville, Louisiana where she had been a resident for three and onehalf years. She was 89 years old. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at Bayou des Glaises Baptist Church, Big Bend from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. with services at 11:30 a.m.
She is survived by her sisters, Bertie Lee Hess Lemoine, Mattie Hess Charrier, Jean Hess Desselle, and Shirley Hess Zenk her brotherinlaw, Eugene Zenk, Sr. her nieces, Brenda Lemoine Hutchinson and Ashley Laborde her nephews, Leonard Sonny Fountain, Jr., Byron Charrier III, Glenn Desselle, Keith Charrier, Duane Zenk, Vaughn Charrier and Rob Zenk and numerous great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her Charrier family nieces and nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Charrier parents, Herman Della Kimble Hess brother, Byron Joseph Hess sisters, Lola Hess Fountain and Virgie Mae Hess.
During her life, Maggie lived in Big Bend and New Orleans. While living in New Orleans she worked at Charity Hospital and Maison Blanche department store and was active in her church, Franklin Avenue Baptist and various womens ministries. Maggie was very fashionable and stylish and always impeccably groomed. She especially loved pretty shoes and handbags. In Big Bend, she mostly stayed home where she took very good care of her husband. Occasionally she worked as an election polls commissioner, a postal clerk and a sales clerk in a popular gift shop. She was very active in her church, Bayou des Glaises Baptist Church, various womens ministries and other activities.
Pallbearers will be family members, neighbors and church friends
