Funeral service for Majestic Hegger of Mansura will begin at 1:00pm on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at Little Zion Baptist Church in Long Bridge with Rev. Vernon Simon officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Majestic Hegger was born to the late Velvon & Iris Laurent on September 5, 1934 in Longbridge. She was the fifth child of eleven. Majestic and her siblings grew up in a home of simple and humble beginnings, filled with love and rich in spirituality, as her father was a Pastor. The importance of a personal relationship with the Lord was a cornerstone of the Laurent household. At an early age, she was baptized at the Little Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. William Blackmon. She attended public school in Longbridge. Majestic was united in Holy matrimony to Clarence Hegger of Cottonport on July 16, 1961. There were no children born of this union.
Majestic was very hard and dedicated worker. She worked for the Rozas family for many years. She also worked for other families as a housekeeper. She was also a skilled hairdresser. Majestic was a loyal, faithful, and dedicated member of the Little Zion Baptist Church where she served as a choir member for most of her life. She lived a fun-filled humble life. She loved God, her family, her church, and her community. In her spare time, she enjoyed watching western movies and soap operas.
Majestic fought a good fight, kept the faith, and left an impressionable legacy of being a friend and she will always be remembered as her brother’s and her sister’s keeper. God, in his infinite wisdom, saw fit to transition Majestic to her heavenly home on Thursday, October 27, 2022 and she was surrounded by her loved ones at St. Francis Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Velvon & Iris Laurent; husband, Clarence Hegger; brothers, Lincoln Laurent, Clement Laurent, Nathan Laurent, and Lonis Laurent; sisters, Susie Mae Augustine, Naomi Kyle, Joyce Dobison, and Velma Wells.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sisters, Geraldine Benjamin and Rachel Hall both of Cottonport; raised as her own daughters, Dinah Sampson (Alfred) and Janna Lee (Geoffrey); dear friend and caregiver, Cora Lewis; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and the Little Zion Baptist Church family.
Visitation will begin at 11:00am until 1:00pm on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at Little Zion Baptist Church in Longbridge.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Escude Funeral Home (38-964-2324) 6608 Porterie St. Mansura, LA 71350.
