Funeral services for Mandell Anthony Riviere of Moreauville will be held on Friday, June 10, 2016 beginning at 11am at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Moreauville with Fr. Jose Pallipurath officiating. Visitation will be held at the Escude Funeral Home in Moreauville beginning at Thursday, June 9, 2016 from 5pm until 10pm and will resume Friday morning at 8am. Rosary wake service will be held at 8pm Thursday. Interment and military honors will be held at the Sacred Heart Mausoleum.
Mandell Riviere, age 94, passed away at the Riviere de Soleil Community Care Center in Mansura on Monday, June 6, 2016. He served in the U.S. Navy as a Seabee from 1942-1945. Upon his return, Mandell became the proud owner and founder of Moreauville Tin Shop. His business was one of the oldest in Moreauville and his employees were treated as family. He was known for his giving personality and supported many charities and events. He served as a volunteer on the Moreauville Fire Department, a member of the American Legion Post 296, a member of the Knights of Columbus, and a member of the Sacred Heart Holy Name Society. Mandell was the founder & president of the Moreauville Sports Club; and he helped start Little League in Moreauville. In his spare time, he was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edmond & Zola Riviere; sisters, Yvonne Bow & Agnes McCormick; brother, Raymond Riviere.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 70 years, Pearl Riviere of Moreauville; sons, Donald Riviere (Yvonne) of Moreauville, Edmond Rivierie of Innis, & Joseph Riviere (Barbara); daughter, Martha Clark (Ronald) of Moreauville. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be: Don Riviere, II, Ron Clark, Andrew Riviere, Val Rachal, Zane Riviere, & roch Riviere; crossbearer, Tyler Gauthier, and altar servers, Dominic Riviere & Cameron Riviere.
