Memorial Mass for Marcella Rose Turner will begin at 11:00am on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at Our Lady of Prompt Succor in Mansura with Fr. Blake Deshautelle officiating. Interment will be held at St. Paul Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:00am until 10:45am on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at Escude Funeral Home in Mansura.
Marcella Rose Turner was born on the 23rd of July 1929 in Mansura, Louisiana, and passed away on September 5th, 2024, after a full life of 95 bountiful years. Marcella was preceded in death by her parents, Horace and Florence Boston; and her five siblings, Evans Boston, Berniece Francisco, Magdlen Francisco, Rachel James, and Oray Boston.
Marcella, known by those who loved her as “Cell”, was an energetic woman known for her love of life and people. She shared that life with her loving husband, Nolan L. Turner, of 62 years until his passing in 2016.
Marcella was survived by her son, Lawrence Bruce Turner (Loraine) of San Antonio, Texas and Iris Ann James (Terence) of Lakewood Washington; her five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Marcella retired from Central Hospital as a Psychiatric Therapist Assistant, Caring for At-Risk Youth. After retirement true to her boundless energy and dedication to the Church, she came out of retirement to serve as secretary at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church. Due to her love for helping young people, she also found joy in working as a substitute teacher for the local school districts during her retirement.
Marcella was a devout catholic and a Parishioner of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church. She was an active member of the Knight of St. Peter Claver Ladies Auxiliary, Court #174 serving in several court officer positions representing her chapter at numerous conventions around the country. She served as an active member until her move to Washington to live with her daughter and son-in-law there she continued her community involvement serving as Resident Council President for her senior resident peers.
Her love of life and zest for living will continue to inspire us all!
